Marmaduke and Millicent mouse set out on a colourful road of adventure to find a home of their own. In the process of their journey they experience a narrow escape from a cat in a royal palace. They also discover that setting up home on a sailing ship has too many ups and downs. They find a few moments shelter under a big sack, only to find that it is soon loaded onto a sleigh by a man in a bright red suit with a long white beard. Eventually the two tired mice find refuge in some warm hay in a stable. But they were not alone, other travellers were also to find shelter in the stable on that starry night. This would become their ideal home, the place where Jesus was born.
