A Christmas musical written for Key Stage 1.
Script by Joy Wright, music by James Wright

This story is set in the forest where a group of young trees point toward the sky. As the seasons change they grow strong and tall, all except one – the little fir tree. The tall trees boast that one day they will be used for something important and tease the little fir tree because of his size. When the woodcutter comes to chop down the tall trees, he reassures the little fir tree that he has a special purpose for him. His destiny is finally discovered when he is decorated and placed in a prominent position in a children’s hospital ward. The children’s faces are filled with joy as they gaze upon his beauty. The nurses then retell the Christmas nativity story to the children.

The underlying message of this story is that however small and unimportant we may feel, each one of us has something special to contribute to this world. As the last song says ‘to each one of us there is a reason, everybody has something to give’.

The narration has been written in rhyme in order for younger children to learn it easily.

This booklet comes complete with CD containing backing tracks, with and without vocals, full piano score with melody lines and chord charts, photocopiable lyric sheets and script. The performance duration is approximately 30 minutes.

We also have a video available which contains a live performance of "The Little Fir Tree." This can be used as a helpful tool to inspire dance routines, costume ideas and the overall interpretation of the production. It is available for an additional price of 6.00 including p&p.
